Recently the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the infamous Indian guru that once was the guru of the Beatles, died in his center in Vlodrop in the Netherlands. The world-press released a fair amount of uncritical and unresearched hagiographic articles containing praising biographies of this guru that nonetheless was very controversial during his lifetime. It took a deep delve into the internet to find an article shedding a less positive light on the founder of the Transcendental Meditation movement - although it was provided by the last journalist that interviewed the Maharishi.
Eventually a bounty has been placed on the head of the cartoonist who drew a cartoon of Muhammed as a dog. For his death, $100 000 has been offered by Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, leader of the so-called Islamic State in Iraq, a group linked to al-Qaeda.
