In the Turkish Daily News two articles about with totally different views on Turkey's dealing with religious groups were published with only two days in between. It portrayed perfectly how lately the media and state policies handle Turkey and it's secularism in a very incoherent way.
On the 17 of September, an article entitled: "Turkey still imposes restrictions on religious freedom, report says" stated that the U.S. State Department had announced that the Turkish government generally respects the freedom of religion but that it nonetheless still imposes some restrictions on religious groups and how they express their religiousness. Minorities, according to the report, are faced with judiciary and societal discrimination.

But on the 19th of September, an article entitled "Turkey could be a model for religious co-existence" reported that the United States Undersecretary of State Nicholas Burns said at a conference held in Robert College (Istanbul) that Western European countries could take Turkey as a model for the peaceful coexistence of Christian and Muslim communities.
